A Communist Germany AAR: Part 15
In which we fight the penultimate war for World liberation
Chinese Civil War
On the 1st of July 1948 we transferred all liberated Chinese land to our Chinese comrades led by Mao Zedong who until now were being ideologically indoctrinated in Berlin. China has fallen into Civil War dragging us into war against the Nationalists.
The Nationalists' Army
China has been modernising itself for decades giving it a relatively modern army. They do however lack any tank divisions meaning our own armour should be able to crush the enemy with ease.
The International Army
In spite of this, the main strength of the Chinese lies in their numbers. We have had to leave the bulk of our army in America to prevent rebellion in the newly liberated USSA. Due to this we can only field a limited number of divisions meaning the Nationalists have an advantage by sheer quantity.
Australia
While the Chinese war has just begun, we have also been at war with Australia for some time. We have almost secured the West Coast and we are beginning to move into the South East.
Australian resistance
The Australians have been putting up a significant amount of resistance to our advance. The Australian army consists of many political refugees from across the Empire as well as equipment that these refugees brought along with them. Chief among these is the Australian Navy, made up of the remnants of the French, American and British navies making it incredibly powerful.
For the International
Despite all these obstacles we shall persevere, as we have done since the Revolution back in 1933. Only four more capitalist nations remain; Australia, China, New Zealand and Japan. Once these nations have been liberated we will finally enter a new age of peace and prosperity.
The International
Of course we will not be fighting our last wars alone; we have the full weight of the International behind us. Already our European comrades' armies have been converging on China.
Plan of attack
The North of China is relatively undefended when compared with the South. For this reason, we will attempt a quick armoured push from Mongolia towards Beijing.
First advance
We inflict massive casualties on the border garrisons and they withdraw inland. We will first attempt to subdue the Shanxi Clique before moving to Beijing.
Sydney falls
Our Motorised infantry enter Sydney on the 26th of July. While our men prepare to finish the Australians off at Canberra, the Capitalists' navy engages our fleet off the Australian East Coast. While they have a numerical advantage, our fleet is much more advanced and we should be able to repel their attack.
Canberra falls
Canberra soon falls on the 6th of August. With this Australia has been crippled.
Australia surrender
As expected Australia surrenders soon after Canberra's capture. Now only three nations remain independent from the International. The British Royal Family yet again avoided capture by evacuating to New Zealand. Not that this matters, New Zealand will fall soon enough.
Attack on New Zealand's coast
Our men quickly reach New Zealand and begin landing on the South Island. New Zealand has a small army so they probably can't defend against multiple attacks, Which is why...
Attack on New Zealand's coast
...We launch a simultaneous on the North Island. Our fleet is also in position to provide fire support for our men landing on both islands. With this the British Empire will finally fall.
Attack in the North
Back in China we have successfully pacified the Shanxi Clique bringing the area under our Comrade's control. German, Czech, Polish, French, Italian and Balkan armies have all assembled on the road to Beijing. The last time there was an International war against China was back in the 19th Century during the Boxer Rebellion. However unlike that Imperialist war, this one is for the Liberation of the Chinese Proletariat.
Beach head on New Zealand
Our men occupy Auckland in New Zealand after a pitched battle with the defenders on the beaches. The road is now open to Wellington.
Beach head on New Zealand
Likewise on the south island our men make landfall. They too shall begin moving towards Wellington. The British Royal family has nowhere left to run and their capture shall extinguish any remaining Anti--Socialist thought back in Britain.
Wellington under siege
Our men reach Wellington on the 13th of October. Despite all odds the defenders are well motivated and wish to put up strong resistance to our attack. The defending army is made up of men from all across the British Empire. With this, the sun will finally set on the Empire. Good riddance.
Further advances
Another Clique surrenders to the International adding to our encirclement of the Nationalists. We have also reached the outer edge of Beijing though our army is not yet in position for an attack.
Swift attack in the South
In a daring assault, some of our Motorised infantry break through the Chinese line and successfully retake Macao and Hong Kong from the Nationalists. They shall continue to wreak havoc behind the Chinese lines.
Wellington surrenders
The main garrison of Wellington flees after we breach the outer city limits. We can now simply march straight into the city and demand a surrender.
Battle for Beijing
With several Corps assembled outside Beijing we begin our assault on the encircled city...
Battle for Beijing
...However we are quickly forced to call off our attack due to heavy losses caused by the numerical advantage of the Chinese. We will keep the city encircled while we move more men into position.
Wellingon falls
We finally reach Wellington on the 7th of November.
New Zealand surrenders
And as expected New Zealand finally surrenders to the Fourth international. With this just China and Japan remain. The British Royal Family has also been captured. We won't kill them of course since we're not monsters. Instead, they can look forward to being stripped of their titles and being made to join the Proletariat. We are all equal in the International and as such Monarchy has no place.
State of the Front: 24th November
We have made advances from both the North and South leading to Beijing coming under Siege. The majority of the Chinese army remains in action however in the South West and we fear that we have no means to defeat such a large army... Perhaps alternative measures may be needed to force a surrender...
Indonesia
With the fall of the British Empire the Dutch Government in exile has given up the fight and transferred their remaining territory to our Indonesian comrades. South East Asia has finally gained its independence from European domination.
Battle for Beijing Part 2
A renewed assault of Beijing proves to be much more successful. With the city under blockade, supplies have been running low and substantial numbers of the defenders have begun to surrender. Regardless of this the heavy combat has led to high losses for both the International and the Chinese.
Battle for Beijing Part 2
As further International divisions begin to enter the battle victory inches closer and closer.
Beijing captured
On the 10th of December Beijing finally surrenders. International losses totaled up to 26,000 while 60,000 Chinese men died in the battle and a further 38,000 were captured. Despite this impressive victory we have hardly dented the Chinese War machine since they still field far more men than we do.
A Decision
Seeing the resistance that the Chinese put up at Beijing, we have begun to doubt our ability to defeat China "Conventionally" on the field of Battle. We feel that it may be finally time to reveal our "Wonder Weapon" to the world. By deploying a tactical Nuclear weapon on the Nationalist Army in Chengdu, we could crush their army without risking any of our men's lives.
A Decision
We decide to go ahead with the plan. A nuclear bomb shall be dropped on the large Chinese army in Chengdu. We hope that by doing this, we can force the Nationalists to see the futility of resisting liberation. The bomb shall be dropped at midday on the 14th of December.
A Decision
On the 14th of December at midday a single German bomber with a large fighter escort flew above Chengdu and deployed the very first nuclear bomb to be used outside of testing. The bomb was aimed at Chinese military positions though of course civilian casualties were inevitable. Almost 200,000 Nationalist soldiers were instantly incinerated and the survivors were left in a state of complete disorganisation.
Following up on The Bomb
Exploiting the chaos our motorised infantry in a neighbouring province begin to move into Chengdu. The stragglers don't even try to put up a fight and surrender immediately despite outnumbering us. If we continue to use Nuclear weapons in this manner, we can force an end to this war.
Following up on The Bomb
Reports of the Nuclear bombing quickly leak out into the wider world and soon media outlets across the International begin discussing the implications of this weapon. Some see it as a way to finally crush Capitalism, others question the legitimacy of the bombing, others see the bomb as a sure sign of German domination in the Fourth International. Whatever the case, the answer to these questions will have to be left until post-war.
Another bombing
Another Nuclear Bomb is soon prepared and the target is Chongqing.
Another bombing
The weapon is deployed without any issues and yet another Nationalist army is decimated. The sheer power of this weapon makes us glad that the Capitalists were never able to deploy one against us.
Another bombing
In the East our men have come under attack from a large number of enemy divisions. Our other divisions are too far away to reinforce so another Nuclear bomb is prepared despite the proximity to civilian areas.
Another bombing
Another Nationalist army is vaporised by a Nuclear Bomb. We have received reports that survivors from these bombings have developed a peculiar illness and our men passing through bombed areas have also begun to fall ill. While we look into this matter, further bombings shall be restricted.
Advance
The start of 1949. With the Nationalist Army in tatters, we have a clear path towards the South East. Shanghai and Nanjing are priority targets.
State of the Front
As a result of the Nuclear Bombings, the Nationalists have fallen apart leading to great advances being made by the International. Victory will come soon.
Nanjing and Shanghai
Nanjing and Shanghai come under our control on the 1st February. We only need to mop up the areas that the Nationalists still control.
New Carriers
On the 2nd of February our final Carriers are finished. With their completion we have finally finished building up the People's Navy. We feel confident that we will be able to defeat the Imperial Japanese Navy.
China splinters
The Nationalists splinter into three separate pockets and the last remaining Clique in the South joins our Chinese Comrades.
The Nationalists surrender
And on the 20th of February, the Nationalists finally agree to unconditionally surrender to the Fourth International. With this, our Chinese Comrades finally have complete control over China and we can all sigh our collective breaths.
Peace
For the first time since April 1943, almost six years ago we are at peace. Japan remains the only nation that has not been liberated and they have withdrawn into isolation not unlike Feudal Japan many centuries ago. For now, we will leave them be and begin to recover ourselves.
Investments
Years of warfare forced us to neglect the needs of our own populace. To make up for this, we make substantial investments into both Public Healthcare...
Investments
...And education. We want to reward our populace for their sacrifices over the past few years.
Space exploration
Along similar lines we agree to fund research of Rockets capable of reaching Space. After all, once we liberate the World space will naturally be the next step for mankind.
Nuclear research
The Nuclear bombs we deployed proved to be effective yet they can still be improved. Our researchers have come up with an alternate design that should be much more powerful.
Proclamation of the PRC
On the 13th of April our Chinese Comrades proclaim themselves the sole legitimate rulers of China and found the People's Republic of China. The Chinese leadership were previously Stalinist however they have now proclaimed complete loyalty to the Fourth International. We still have our doubts though, so we will keep an eye on them.
Mexico joins the International
After many years of staunch neutrality the Mexicans finally agree to join the International. Their reasons for taking so long to join are unknown but regardless of this we are happy to have them.
People's Navy relocated
The People's Navy has re-positioned to Vladivostok in preparation for the war with Japan. It now boasts several large carriers and Battleships that will surely crush the Japanese Navy.
V2 production
A large number of V2 rockets are also produced in preparation for the war with Japan. They should prove useful in destroying coastal fortifications.
Rebuilding
Continuing along our promise of developing Germany, we have begun to improve infrastructure across the country. Our eventual goal is to have world class infrastructure in every single province.
Democratic reforms
Years of continual warfare has necessitated certain "restrictions" on proper democracy in Germany, namely regular elections. Now that we are at peace, we can once again revive the democracy that distinguished our state from the Stalinist Soviet Union.
Public Works
Returning soldiers have found it difficult to find work so we shall launch great public work projects to create new industries and jobs. We will take good care of the men who risked their lives to spread freedom and equality to people across the globe.
Infantry Research
In preparation for the war with Japan, we have begun to develop effective new infantry weapons which should give us the edge over the Japanese. The StG 44 has served us well for the past few years but it is beginning to show its age. New weapons are required.
Rocket Research
At the start of 1950 our scientists succeeded in designing rockets capable of going into Space.
Rocket Research
As a result of this breakthrough, we found a National Government Agency responsible for research in all matters related to Space Exploration. Humanity's future depends on getting off of Earth, so naturally this agency shall lead the way towards a brighter future.
Rocket Research
Their first job is putting an artificial satellite into orbit around the Earth. This will be very difficult, but we have full faith in our comrades.
Nuclear Research
Likewise our Nuclear Scientists have created a new kind of Nuclear Bomb; a Hydrogen Bomb. This new bomb is substantially more powerful and it can also be miniaturised, allowing us to theoretically attach the warhead to rockets. This should increase our ability to deploy the weapon.
FIFA
In June the next FIFA tournament begins. FIFA has fallen under worker control meaning that Japan is not allowed to attend the event, not that this matters. Hopefully the contest will build up Internationalism between the International's member states.
New Tank
As a final piece of preparation for the war with Japan, we begin to develop a new tank to serve in our army. The goal is to create a tank that incorporates the best aspects of light, medium and heavy tanks into one machine; a main battle tank.
FIFA ends
The FIFA tournament ends in July with Uruguay winning the cup. With this out of the way, we finally feel ready to liberate Japan.
War
Japan is led by the last Monarch on Earth; Emperor Hirohito who claims to have descended from the Gods.Japan is a heavily militarised authoritarian state which represses the Japanese Proletariat and so, the time for Liberation has come!
