Notes on this AAR;
I'm playing using all of the DLC, bar Mare Nostrum, and with MEIOU & Taxes version 1.25. I have manually removed the 'amalgamation government' from the game, because its really annoying and railroads history too much. Due to this, I'm not running in Ironman.

Two weeks of mourning have passed and I must now put my grief to the side, for the Turk would love to attack us in our time of sadness.

My father left me in a strong position with no nations boarding us that posed a significant threat. My greatest worry is the White Horde, who are closely allied to the Emir of Shivran.
Thoughts of war
My Father's plans were detailed for an invasion of the Circassian tribes, but he feared their Shivrani allies would join the war against us, so he did not act. I share this fear also, for any invaders coming at us from the Caspian have an unrestricted path to our ill-defended capital.
Loaning money from the Jews
While the Kingdom's economy is stable, we do not have the funds I require to expand on my father's plans. I loan 75 Lari from a well-reported Jewish moneylender in Tbsili.
Another Catholicos
News has reached me from my father's final conquest. Another Catholicos has been saved from the Moslems. My father encouraged me to treat fellow Christians with respect, but the Copts should be willing to fund the defence of Georgia, since they remain free within our borders. I insist that the Copts of Nakhichevan pay a tithe to retain the Catholicos there.
Securing the border
I use the funds so gathered to pay for a new fortress on our border with Shivran. It will take four years to complete, but I am patient. I can wait.
Rebellion!
Now I see why my father warned me about the Magnates. They're now encouraging the more radical Copts to take up arms and forge a kingdom for themselves! Fortunately my father's general Avashvili was in the area with the Georgian army, and he should have no trouble in suppressing this rabble.
The battle
The fighting is swift and one-sided.
Welcome to the family...
Ah, some good news at last! The Lord has blessed me with a son of my own. Bagrat shall his name be, named for the brother I lost so long ago.
Being nice to the Jews
After two years, I can now repay the Jew. He's lucky I don't simply expel him from my lands, as is the prerogative of so many Catholic monarchs.
Plague in Circassia
A number of Circassian peasants have been turned back from the border. They carry the dreaded plague and I will not have them infecting my people also. Damned unwashed Moslems.
The royal court
I take the decision to improve the royal court. My father kept it simple, to focus his efforts on building up the kingdom's infrastructure, but I have vast wealth to command so I feel we must spend it on creating a good impression for all visitors to the palace in Tbsili.
Roman baths
The plague in Circassia has me worried. The border guards cannot watch over the whole of the Caucasian mountains. I must work to improve my people's health if we are to avoid future plagues.

I was reading an old Latin text the last week, and it indicated that the Romans built public bathing houses for their people. This seems as good an idea as any, so I order a public bath be built in the capital.
Destiny made manifest
The Pentarch has proclaimed the holy destiny of Georgia is to enlighten the heathen Moslems living in the Circassian tribes. I am impressed by his political expediency.
Border defences complete
Finally the castle in Herethi is complete.
Our status has risen in the world
It has come to my attention that many foreign peoples, mainly merchants and wandering knights from the Balkan regions of Europa, have been observed visiting Tbsili. It seems that our unwavering stance against the Turk and the Tartar have elevated our status in the world. The Georgian capital is now a place of note.
Our position could not be better
With our newest castle complete, it is time for war. I order Avashvili to invade Circassia first, and then turn to fight Shivran, who should be delayed by our border forts.
An easy fight...
The tribesmen band together and form a small force. It poses no threat to disciplined Georgian arms.
...but a tough nut to crack
Our attack has been delayed! Circassia may not have much of an army, but their largest holding is protected by an enormous citadel, with many hidden paths in and out, to supply the defenders with food and ammunition. We have no chance of establishing control over the region without raising an even larger army.
Defending Georgia
The Shivrani army is in danger of capturing our border forts, so the armies are re-deployed. Avashvili leads the attack admirably, and outwits the Shivrani general by hiding half of his cavalry over a rise. He used a weaker group of infantry to bait the impetuous Moslems into attacking without covered flanks and that is when his horses crested the rise and charged down into the rear of the enemy. The fighting did not last long after that.
Ha ha. No
A messenger from the Orsun Turks, who now call themselves the Ottomans, has arrived. He requested transit rights for Moslem armies in their war against the Christian traders. Of course I declined.
Fool me twice
Avashvili pulls off the same trick again, baiting the Shivrani into fighting him by hiding his cavalry.
Trebizond to the rescue
While the fighting carries on in the east, a battle takes place between the tribesmen, and our allies near the Capital. I hope that a victory here will break the weak Circassian 'army' for good.

Peace with Shivran
Two years and one day have now passed since fighting started and Shivran is really suffering from our occupations. They agree to surrender, and we force them to cut off diplomatic relations with the White horde. I do not want to be defending against them on two fronts.
The war is ended
A third year passes before Circassia is fully pacified, during which the Georgian army gains much experience fighting small forces amongst the hills and mountains between Caucasia and the steppes.
Religious Ideology
The ideology of our nation is changing. We must take a more militant approach to religion, lest we be swallowed up by Islam. I have suggested to the Pentarch that it might be wise, for his continued safety, to begin working a little more fire and damnation to the enemies of Georgia into his sermons.
Its almost as if they were still independant
I have had to grant a lot of autonomy to the newly conquered lands, for the tribes there are not fully pacified. I appoint governors for the new land, and instruct them to begin integrating the land into our administrative structure.
My fears are beginning to fade
Georgia is now in an admirable position. We control fully half of Caucasia and Orthodoxy is on the rise. In the north, the White Horde is kept busy by rebellions and constant wars. Muscovy is a rising star amongst the Russian states, and is even challenging our old ally of Novgorod for dominance in the region.
A shadow in the west
To the west, the Ottoman Turks are becoming more and more of a worry. Their sea-going war with Genoa does not progress quickly, but on land their armies seem to be unmatched. The Mamluk Moslems are pushing the Tartars back and I know not whether to rejoice or tremble over this. I fear that, despite my early successes, the days of my reign will feature few friends, but many foes.

Thus ends part 3 of Edge of the World.

Based on the responses to yesterday's question, I'll try to upload these daily, at about 6:00PM, GMT.
