Notes on this AAR;
I'm playing using all of the DLC, bar Mare Nostrum, and with MEIOU & Taxes version 1.25. I have manually removed the 'amalgamation government' from the game, because its really annoying and railroads history too much. Due to this, I'm not running in Ironman.

The evening sun illuminated the city in a gentle orange glow. The days had grown short again and it was less than a month now to January, when the birth of Christ would be remembered with feasting across the Realm. I watched the streets through the windows of the small palace I now called my own.

The construction was newly finished since the last palace had been burned down long ago by Moslem invaders, before the life of my father's father. It was only recently that I had been able to divert resources from maintaining our army and border defences to build it. I smiled, happy that I had brought my people a measure of peace for at least a little while.
The Patriarch's preachers
My Coptic subjects are becoming more amenable to Orthodox ways. The Patriarch accordingly sends out missionaries to formally baptise these converts.
Administrative reform
During this newfound peace I have been looking to centralise our administration. My advisors assure me that it will take many more years to curtail the power of the nobility, but I am sure it will be worth the investment, if not for me then for the prophesied king of Caucasia.
A Catholicos is angry
Troubling word reaches me from the governor of Somkheti. Apparently the missionaries sent there are baptising at sword point and stealing away babies for christening. The Catholicos is most displeased and is directing his anger towards me. Surely he realises that I have no say in this matter. I order the presumptive fool replaced to send a message. Do not anger your king.
An opportunity rises
My advisors indicate that occupying and capturing the Genovese port of Anapa is within our capability, since the traders are still busy warring with the Turks. They suggest that we could invade under the pretense of rescuing Orthadox Christians from the two-faced Catholics.
To war we jolly well go
I agree with the plan. War is declared.
A new power rises
Word has reached us from the south. The Quyonlu horde has been torn asunder by a new, dangerous player. The Kerman horde now stretches over much of ancient Media. Hopefully they do not prove hostile.
The Genovese ships
The traders send a large fleet to blockade our ports, but for whatever reason, they do not land soldiers. I suspect they do not value Anapa as much as the ports that the Turks are fighting them for.
Trebizond declares war
Our steadfast allies in have declared a war of their own. They desire the land of the Beylik of Ezrican for themselves.
A great man dies
Sad news reached the palace today. Avashvili, Georgia's most capable commander, has died. Apparently he was found in his tent, collapsed over a map he had been annotating. A pained expression painted his face, but his body was already cold.

He will receive a state funeral, and I have ordered a week of mourning for the nation to honour his soul as it passes to Heaven.
A new leader
Fortunately he left behind a nephew, Revaz, who was educated in the ways of his uncle, even if he lacked the raw talent that Avashvili brought to a battle.
Invasion of Cherkio
The Genovese still claim Anapa is their land, so we cross over in boats to Cherkio. Hopefully this will force the traders to admit defeat.
The Rus' rising
The power balance has re-formed in the lands of the Rus'. The previously small states of Muscovy and Ryazan have risen to dominance. Perhaps the White Horde will be too troubled by these new threats to bother with us.
Victory
Finally the traders admit defeat. Anapa is ours, along with a horde of gold the Genovese paid us to leave Cherkio.
The religious tradition of Georgia
The Church has began to reform its teachings, putting focus on Georgia's history as a bastion of faith. The Orthodox people of my land rejoice in being a part of that legacy.
A proposal
A messenger reached us yesterday, claiming to be from the Count of Theodero. The small city-state apparently gained its independence from Genoa during our war with them, and the count wishes to marry off his daughter to one of my relatives, to secure an alliance.

After pondering this offer, I decide it is probably wise to foster good relations with other Orthodox nations. I will tell the messenger that I accept. She shall marry one of my cousins.
Missionaries report success
Finally, we hear some good news out of Somkheti. The missionaries there have had success, and converted the majority of the population to Orthodox.
They continue their efforts
The Patriach requests that they continue the lord's work amongst the Copts.
Engineer Corps
Revaz has been looking over the armies of Georgia and has suggested, following our initial failure to capture the fortress in Circassia, that we establish an engineering corps dedicated to breaking into castles.

He left the Army in the capable hands of one of his subordinates for a few weeks and came to present his idea to me in Tbsili. It seems sound to me, so I tell him to go ahead and set up this corps.
Heathen invaders
I was eating a light lunch when a messenger burst into the dining hall. I stood up and shouted at the interruption, but he ignored me, blurting out something about Ghazis in the north.
The army marches again
I send orders to Revaz, who has returned to the army in Anapa, to engage these Moslem raiders and send their heads back to their foul master.
An even fight...
The fighting did not go well. The Ghazis were skilled fighters, unlike any enemies I or Revaz had encountered.
...but we hold out longer
Despite heavy Georgian casualties, Revaz lead the army to victory.
Revaz chases his enemies
He chased down the survivors and ensured they would not cause us any more trouble. He was unable to find out where they came from, much to my disappointment.

Aside:
They actually came from the Maldives somehow. Go figure.
The people can rest in safety
With that threat swept under the rug, I once again find myself in a time of peace. Oh, it is never easy for me between balancing out the demands of the Magnates, the Nobility and the many Churches within our boarders, but at least now the people can have some measure of security. I wonder how long this will last.

Thus ends part 4 of Edge of the World

I'm posting this one a little early because I have other things I need to do this afternoon.

Also, I've had a lot of comments asking questions about MEIOU. Do you want me to write up a guide to the mod?
