Notes on this AAR;
I'm playing using all of the DLC, bar Mare Nostrum, and with MEIOU & Taxes version 1.25. I have manually removed the 'amalgamation government' from the game, because its really annoying and railroads history too much. Due to this, I'm not running in Ironman. For more details, see here:

My spymaster assures me that elements amongst the Georgian nobility are growing restless with my rule. He thinks my the centralisation policies carried out by my father and his father before him should be reversed in order to appease them.

That is not something I am willing to do. For the first time in centuries, I have almost total control not only of Tbsili, but also of much of the surrounding towns and villages.

I instruct the spymaster to keep looking into the matter for me. I have more pressing matters to deal with.
Rebuilding the Army
The Georgian army took a large hit during our last war, and I now find myself with the funds required to build it up again.

I pay for two companies of Flag Infantry to be trained, equipped and lead by mercenary commanders used to fighting with green soldiers.
Border Dispute
One of the Turkish high-ups who had been put in charge of integrating Trebizond has sent back the heads of a party of Georgian hunters who must have unknowingly strayed into his land.

The court cried out for vengeance, but what revenge I can extract from the Turk will almost certainly be followed swiftly with an army thirty-thousand strong.

I sent an envoy by sea to konstantinoupolis, as it is now called, bypassing the local Governor and going directly to the Sultan. He made clear how no insult to the might of the Turkish people was intended and asked to negotiate for a specific border, so such incidents may not happen again.

The Sultan was impressed by my response and immediately calmed things down with the governor. I think father would have been most proud of how I handled that.
The aristocracy on the rise
My spymaster got back to me the other day. His 'sources', as he calls them, have traced the rumours of rebellion to the Western provinces bordering the sea. There are many noble estates in that part of the country, so it is not certain who is trying to put this plot together, but the local landowners have driven up recruitment of the local militias.

I fear that someone is raising a personal army for themselves.
More pressing concerns
My Moslem subjects continue to bother my Orthodox governors. Riots and lynchings are being carried out throughout Dagestan. Soon the whole region will be aflame if I do not step in.
The uprisings continue
As the army reached Noxciyo, the dam burst and thousands of Moslems took to the streets and laid siege to the fortress there.
Pitched battle
The Moslems in their fervour turned from sieging the castle to attack the Georgian army.

It was an uphill struggle for them, and my general proved most adept at holding off the Moslems with the skilful use of archers.
A high cost
Despite the desperate attack, the Moslems were beaten off and the last of them drifted off to their homes, pretending they had not tried to kill my soldiers.

I chose to let them live. Perhaps the peoples of that region will think better of me for it.
The Gates are poised to fall
The historic border fort of the Gates that guards the eastern passes of the Caucasian mountains is beginning to waver before the tide of Moslem zealots outside the walls.

However, I tell my general to hold off the attack and wait on re-enforcements. He's going to need all the men he can get.
I cannot wait any longer
I give the order to attack. It will be days before I hear of either victory or defeat, but I pray to God that the news is good.
The fighting is hard
Fighting in the mountains does not really suit horsemen and as a result, the inexperienced and poorly-bread Georgian cavalry take a heavy toll during the battle.

The infantry fare little better, for they are attacking uphill towards the encamped fanatics.
The news is good
I give praise to God this day, for the Moselm heathens have been disposed of and the nation is at peace again.

The army is in dire straits though. I hope it is not going to be needed for several months yet.
Loans repaid
Finally I can repay the loans taken out during my last war.
At last the plot is broken
The other day, my spymaster woke me in the middle of the night and told all he had found. A group of three nobles, calling themselves the Georgian Triumvirate, had conspired to put themselves in charge of the nation.

They had communicated in secret for the most part, but one of their messengers by chance had fallen prey to a leopard on one of the mountain passes, and in his pocket had been found a coded message and the cipher to read it with.

In fact, the message indicated that the Triumvirate would be meeting today, in Tbsili itself!
Arrest those men
A fifty of my personal guard converged on the small manor house on the edge of the city. They had it completely ringed and their eyes were peeled for anyone trying to escape.

Finally, the ring closed about the house and the soldiers battered down the front door. Someone tried to climb out of an upper window, but he was easily intercepted. The other two conspirators were found hiding in the house's pantry inside an empty wine vat.

And in one fell swoop, the plot to remove me from the throne is finally ended. The influence of the nobility has been significantly reduced in the court after this debacle.
War on the horizon
Shirvan is once again looking weak. Their ally in Sarbadar is fighting a war of their own, and will soon probably not be interested in fighting a foreign war at all.

The Shirvani army is as large as our own, but it does not seem anywhere near as capable. Their generals are not versed in tactics as Georgian commanders are.
Merchants bring news
Georgian merchants who trade in distant Mediterranean ports tell that our nation's army is becoming renowned across the Christain world. Stories tell of how we hold off the thousands-strong armies of the Turk and the Tartar with only tiny forces.

The tales exaggerate the truth of the matter, but it is nice to be famed. Perhaps it will encourage our men to braver deeds.
Didi Bertha
I have ordered the purchase of an artillery cannon from Europe, the first of its kind in Georiga. Hopefully it will give us an edge in the battles to come. The men have affectionately named it 'Didi Bertha'.
To war
Sarbadar is finally too preoccupied to help Sirvan. It is time to attack!

Thus ends part 9 of Edge of the World.

Anyone here play HOI4? Should I get it now, or are there bugs that need patching before it is playable/enjoyable/not CTD-able?
