Notes on this AAR;
I'm playing using all of the DLC, bar Mare Nostrum, and with MEIOU & Taxes version 1.25. I have manually removed the 'amalgamation government' from the game, because its really annoying and railroads history too much. Due to this, I'm not running in Ironman. For more details, see here:

The fringes of Georgia are beginning to descend into anarchy. My advisors report that orders simply aren't getting to the regional governors due to the appalling state of the nation's roads. I tell them that no money can be spared due to the nation's financial situation.

In truth, I think this is not an issue I will be able to resolve. I have several times noticed a little blood when I go to relieve myself. This last week, I took Bagrat aside and told him that it would probably fall to him to see Georgia's divine destiny fulfilled.

I am old; older than my father when he died. I have seen Georgia grow fat under my rule. It will be up to Bagrat to see the nation grow clever.
Giorgi VII is dead
It came as no surprise to me really, when mother told me that father had died. He had confided his fears of death in me almost a month ago and commended me to lead the nation well.

I will have him smile upon me from Heaven.
The civil war is over
In Trebizond, the civil was has come to an end with the death of Basilios. Petros I has taken the throne and I move to secure relations with him.
A strange man
A most curious man was found wandering Tbsili the other day. He seemed to be unable to speak with anyone and was accused of witchcraft. I ordered him brought before me to see for myself.

One of the court officials was able to engage him in conversation, speaking one of the Moslem languages. The man apparently came exploring from distant China, far beyond the Indus. He told many a curious tale of the nations he had travelled through, mainly ruled by Tartar Moslems.

I invited him to stay in the palace, which he did for several months. After he had picked up a little of the Italian and Germanic languages, he left, saying he wished to learn more of our edge of the world.
Heathens rise up
As my father warned, Moslem heathens have arisen in the provinces. I order the army to put them down.
Heathens fall down
The rebels are quickly killed off, but at great cost. They seem to think their killing honours their false god, so they do not break easily.
A stroke of luck
For some reason or other, the Heathens in the south have decided to attack our rival Shirvan.

My spies report that the Shirvani army has actually fallen before the Moslem rebels. This is news we cannot ignore.
War
I send a formal declaration of war to the Shirvani court. In their moment of weakness I strike.
So that's where they were going...
Upon moving our army into Shirvani territory, we begin to hear rumours of a large host moving across the land. It seems that the Moslem heathens have actually chosen to cross Shirvan to reach another part of my land.

Why this has happened, I do not know. When I asked my advisors if there was anything the Moslems could gain from doing this, they muttered something Arabic sounding. I asked around the court, but was unable to find anyone who could translate 'ai smrt' for me.

Nevertheless, this rebellion is the main issue because they could attack our fortress in Noxciyo at any time, and we must deal with it.
I have lost my edge
Thanks to that little diversion, Shirvan has been able to re-organise their army. I must hurry to defend the capital from their ally, Kerman.
Kerman never had an edge in the first place
It seems that the Kermai army is terribly backwards. They rely on simple tactics that we mastered years ago. They are easily routed.
A promising development
The nation of Sarbadar has also attacked Kerman. I hope they can keep the enemy occupied long enough for me to win against Shirvan.
Another victory
The Kermani Khan keeps throwing these small and incompetent armies at Georgia. They are no problem to defeat, but left unchecked they could cause much damage to the morale of my people.
I must confront Shirvan
The Shirvani army is close to capturing a key border fort. I order the army to attack them, no matter how outnumbered they are.

To supplement our clearly outmatched army, I put out the word for local mercenaries to join with the Georgian army. We manage to scrounge up another thousand men in this way.
The battle goes well
Despite heavy losses amongst the Georgian cavalry, our army carries the victory. The mercenaries are paid for their service and dismissed.
We chase them down
The Shirvani army is distraught with their loss, so I order the men to give chase and capture any they could.

The enemy are disheartened and under-equipped, so the fighting does not last long before they surrender.
Kerman comes to the rescue
I received a report from the front yesterday that the army of Kerman had been seen in the North and was gaining on the Georgian Army. I fear that the next news will not be good.
It is as I feared
The Georgian army was caught burdened with keeping the captive Moslems in line and almost completely destroyed. I feel the need to execute someone for this shameful defeat.
The Shirvani ambassador
Despite how badly they desire peace, the ambassador from Shirvan, who was sent to Georgia to negotiate refuses our humble terms. He is more than willing to offer gold, but when we request provinces that are rightfully ours, he mutters something about unoccupied forts and wanders off.

I wonder if he is not quite right in the head.
Other nations recognise our claims
Syunik has been held by Georgian forces long enough for the surrounding nations to see it as legitimately ours.

Aside:
This is a really nice feature of MEIOU that lets you take a core province controlled by an enemy, if you occupy it for longer than a year. It works both ways though, so defend your provinces, lest an enemy nation take them from you.
The lord blesses me
A son is born to me and I shall name him Erekle. He seems a little lazy for a babe in swaddling, but I hope this will pass with time.
Plots in Tbsili
Under my very nose the Nobility are trying to seize power! My allies in the Burgher faction are simply not influential enough to counter this sudden rise in power. I do not know what I can do but weather the storm that is coming.
I deal with the ambassador
The ambassador sent to bring about a peace deal still refuses to deal with me, so I ask my advisors if they can come up with anything better.

The very next day, I walked into the dining hall to find that the court astronomer had backed the ambassador up against a wall and was shouting 'Win war!' at him at the top of his voice. It was one of the oddest things I had ever seen, especially when the ambassador came right over to me and agreed to the offer I'd been trying to push on him for the last six months.

Aside:
Yeah, I cheated. Divine intervention.
The nobles grow bolder
The plotting nobility have grown even bolder. They insist on being given more land. I dare not do this, for if they gain any more influence in the realm, I may lose my throne. The Bagrationi dynasty must last until we rule all of Caucasia.
News from the west
The Roman empire is no more, its last holdings gobbled up by Greek states. The Ottoman Turks are consolidating their power in Anatolia and I do not think anyone can stop them now.

I will instead strive to be peaceable with them. The Lord knows that I am an unskilled negotiator, but surely he will lend me divine aid, for the future of Georgia depends upon it.
