Notes on this AAR;
I'm playing using all of the DLC, bar Mare Nostrum, and with MEIOU & Taxes version 1.25. I have manually removed the 'amalgamation government' from the game, because its really annoying and railroads history too much. Due to this, I'm not running in Ironman. For more details, see here:

The pork was rich and succulent. The pastries were piping hot, the wine cool and aged. Alexios had prepared a wonderful meal, a full eight courses and there was indeed reason for celebration.

Trebizond had expanded greatly and a peace had just been signed with the ruler of Ezrican, ceding half their territory to our Orthodox friends.

The feasting carried on well into the night before each guest retired to rooms scattered throughout the Emperor's mansion, overlooking the Black sea. Cartridges already waited to ferry the nobility back to their estates throughout Trebizond and Georgia.
Cunning plots
I had specifically sought out Alexis in order to discuss the matter of Theodero. The county may have gained its independence, but we both feared that the White Horde could easily overrun it if we did not act soon. Alexis had managed to arrange an alliance with the Count, but my Magnates were still blocking my own attempts to draw our nations together.

Alexis suggested that I recognize the sovereignty of Theodero before my court. The Magnates cannot stop up my own mouth, and if another nation challenges Theodero, I could potentially draw Georgia into the war if I present the war as a defence of the county's independence.

Back in Georgia, I carry though with this plan. There have been grumbles in the provinces, but nothing too sinister.
The holy city falls!
Constantinople has fallen before the armies of the Turk. Good Christians are flooding into Georgian ports, bringing little with them but shattered lives. The realm is beginning to look less stable than before.
The Patriarch grows more accepting
After a recent meeting with the two Catholicos', our Patriarch is beginning to wonder if they are so different after all. He encourages me to pass a bill of rights for all people in Georgia, Orthodox or not. I agree with his idea. Hopefully it will keep the people appeased.
Missionaries stalled
People are failing to see the need to convert, now that I have guaranteed the rights of all. Our missionaries are as a result becoming less useful.
Ghazis again
A messenger hurried into the court the other day, still caked in dirt from the road. He explained that Ghazi warriors from the Ottomans had attacked Trebizond.
Revaz provides a response
The Georgian army moves quickly and manages to hunt the Ghazis down before they can do too much damage. The Ottomans will not be pleased with this.
My son comes of age
Bagrat is of age now, so I introduce him to court life. He takes to it fairly well, but he seems naive to the plans being woven around him. I must keep an eye on him, if he is to succeed as king.
More Cossacks
This time from Lithuania, the cossacks are causing trouble in the north. I expel them and demand a response from Lithuania, but we hear nothing back.
Election
It is time for a new Catholicos to be elected. I suggest that the electoral boundaries be redrawn to have our favoured candidate be elected. He seems a kindly man, given to acts of charity and self-sacrifice.
The Turkish plan
We hear from the east that Bulgaria has liberated Constantinople, but the Ottomans have taken this chance to completely encircle the Bulgarian army. I pray for our brethren in the Balkans.
Polish intervention
Our border guards have observed Polish armies moving about in the lands of the White Horde. They seem to be supporting their close ally Lithuania in subjugating the steppes.
War with Derbent
The chance has presented itself for us to take Derbent. I order Revaz to lead the attack.
Swift attack
The first battle is quickly won by our experienced army.
Revaz is dead
Not a month in to our siege of Noxciyo, Revaz is found dead, an arrow through his chest. The soldiers who found the body suspect a few enemies sallied from the castle and attacked him while he relieved himself.
Mercenaries
I decide to hire a mercenary company, to watch Noxciyo for any further sallies, as the Georgian Army is too busy preventing food getting to the defenders.
Culture shift
The culture of the people in Somkheti is now mostly Georgian. This should help keep the whole Armenian region pacified.
Magnates again
The magnates are siring up trouble again. They want me to revoke my recognition of Theoderan sovereignty. I am beginning to wonder if this war was such a good idea, for the siege does not go well.
From bad to worse
A member of the court has been amassing power for some time now, and I am beginning to hear some of the villages surrounding Tbsili are supporting him quite strongly. I fear they will rise up to give him the throne if I do not act in some way.
A long siege
It has been two years since Revaz died and the castle has still not fallen.
Some good news at last
An examination of old records has indicated that the Bagratani dynasty might trace back to the old emperors of Rome. I quickly put this finding to use in strengthening my claim to the throne.
The siege ends
After twenty-six months, Noxciyo has finally surrendered.
Peace...
I demand the full annexation of Derbent, to complete Georgia's control over the north of Caucasia. Only Shivran is left.
...but at what cost
The nation is positively trembling with unrest. The tribes of Circassia are causing trouble in the steppes. Catholics in Anapa are rioting in the streets and attacking Orthodox businesses. In our newest lands, one kind of Moslem argues with another.

In the west, the Ottomans have made the Bulgarians their subjects, and Byzantium is under attack, this time from Greeks.

We might be at peace again, but I am afraid that the most trying times for Georgia are only just beginning.

Thus ends part 5 of Edge of the World.
