We return at war with Chile; with Prime Minister Alfredo ready to prove himself and Parliament split on whether or not they want to watch him burn or cheer him on.

The Dutch, of course, stand ready to join and protect their Platense brothers. Colombia not so much (neutral and complacent assholes).
Chile's setting army is only of 27,000, with thousands of reserves surely ready to rise and join them.

Though the Platense forces sit at a cool 96,000, they haven't actually accumulated experience for a fairly long time. This combined with the fact that Platense military technology was pretty behind (not to mention the possible military capabilities of a Fascist country being invaded) leads Alfredo to take a fairly calm position.

Wait for the Dutch.
By July, as taxes are raised to support the defense infrastructure in the West, approximately 80,000 fresh and experienced Chilean troops cross the border.
Generals Quintana and Pedernera, unable to hold back any longer, are given the go ahead by Alfredo to at least engage the smaller Chilean forces in the South.
Even at such a small scale, victories against the technologically advanced and experience Chileans clearly come at a cost of Platense life.
After polishing off the smaller forces, Platense armies move back to the coast and away from the dismal land of shitty supply limits that is the Andes.
Overall war so far... still waiting on those Dutch.

Meanwhile, as you see in the corner, Communist Brazil continues to feel the heat.
At this point, a rebel siege on Rio has begun.
The Chileans are for some reason sitting in the same shitty supply limit Andean province as they lose men like crazy.

Just goes to show the effectiveness of Fascist supply and military framework.
On September 7th, Alfredo and the Generals leave off a collective "Thank God" as the Dutch finally arrive off the Northern coast of Chile.
50,000 Dutch troops land and capture Copiapó by November.

The Platense forces begin arriving moving further Northward
An invasion plan is created and approved in order to capture the coasts surrounding Santiago. Perhaps we can cut the Fascist bastards off of their supply.
Colombia crawls back and Alfredo replies with a "Sure, why not".
Fairly abysmal attrition.
Even more Dutch arrive, with 37,000 brave souls landing on December 13th.

The Chileans remain dug in on Platense soil.
Hah! Get real assholes.
The Platense Parliament of 1928 is assembled.

The Red Bloc and Right Direction begin a very slow thaw that seems to point to growth in the less polarizing parties of the right and left.
Dutch troops engage Fascists south of Santiago.
As the North is fully captured, the larger Dutch force moves into the capital.
As Platense forces capture lands further and further South into the inhospitable Andes, it is clear that the only valuable province still under control of the Fascists is Santiago.
On February 2nd 1928, the French, backed by Russians, declare war and invade Belgium intending on recapturing French land taken by the Belgians during the deconstruction of the French Empire.

The Dutch stand in solidarity with the Belgians.

Alfredo knows the Chilean war must end soon if the Provinces were to count on any help from Europe in the future.

The push for Santiago begins.
Back in South America, seeing a viable distraction for their own cause, the Fascist (but less assholistic to the Provinces) Peruvians declare war on Brazil, intending on capturing a rich-in-resources Amazonian province that was formerly part of Bolivia.
Brazil now sees itself in the midst of two wars and several massive rebellions.

I would never wish to take their place in juggling all of those things at once.
"Oh shit" - Alfredo Palacios after learning of Communist rebellions in 1928.

Perhaps they stand in solidarity with the Brazilian government and wish to start a coup in order to assist them. Perhaps they hate Alfredo.

Either way we have thousands of rebels now on our plate.
Alfredo, seeing more importance in homeland troubles, orders the armies to engage the Eastern bubble of Communists.
Military tech finally! (Jesus, this shit unlocked in 1870)
On March 14th 1928, Dutch troops finish off Chilean forces in Santiago. Chilean dictator Jorge González von Marées is nowhere to be found.

A manhunt begins in the city.
Meanwhile, in order to calm down the rest of the Left, Socialists in Parliament pass another bill expanding healthcare.
On March 23rd 1928, Chilean dictator Jorge González von Marées is found hiding with hundreds of other Fascist party leaders in bunkers below the Chilean presidential 'palace'.

Dutch and Platense troops line the Fascists up, ready to end this war once and for all.

Marées, known as "El Jefe" to his people, is last to be shot by the firing squad, in the middle of a speech calling for the Chilean audience to intervene.
The war was over.

With no incredibly massive losses of Platense men like the previous Chilean wars, Alfredo is considered successful in his challenge.

The States of Los Rios and Santiago are admitted to the Provinces.
Though the population of Santiago is fairly high, it still doesn't match Buenos Aires or Asunción.
false
Boom.

These rebels are a lot easier than Chileans.

Already, the Eastern bubble of rebels is destroyed.
The armies move to the Northern bubble.
On May 6th, Peruvians are successful in beating the already beaten Brazil.

Much of Parliament is angered by the events; a Fascist government now rules over a once Bolivian province.
Also, at some point the Swedes in Africa have taken a sizable chunk of inner Angola.
In Europe, the Dutch and Belgians hammer away on the front line in Northern France.
Back home, Alfredo surprisingly declares Fascist trade unions illegal, perhaps intending on snuffing out any remainder of the Chilean Fascist flame.
Knowing the Dutch face incredibly strong opponents, Alfredo pledges daily subsidies to Amsterdam. Hardly a dent is made in the suddenly booming Platense economy.
He also pledges money to the Belgians.
And the Russians make the war even more personal.
Glad we made that irregular army in Madagascar!
By July 23rd, the Northern bubble of rebels is cut down to three fairly large forces to be taken on by the combo double trouble team of Quintana and Pedernera at the same time.
In August, Guyana approaches Alfredo for an alliance.

The alliance is accepted with the small and admirable Republic.
Sadly, due to a loss of resources in the current war and ongoing problems in their acquired colonies, the Dutch have fallen off the Great Power list.

Though the Dutch and Platense still hold a strong relationship, the Provinces begin a new era of even more independence.
Looking at our charts of possibly alarming ideologies, Communism has fallen to only 3 countries, one of which is obviously collapsing.
Meanwhile Fascism yet grows.
Perhaps adding to the boon of the Platense economy, the province of La Serena acquired in the war hosts a bountiful harvest of precious metals.
BOOM.
BANG.
BOMBS, DUDE!
Practically a status quo at the French front.
By September, the Communist rebels are fully taken out.

The Platense forces move back to base, victorious in two conflicts.
Yea, Dutch India isn't looking too great.
Let's not even talk about Dutch Africa.
On October 5th, Rio falls to the rebels.
With that knowledge, Pernambuco declares full independence and quickly requests an alliance with the Provinces for protection.

Alfredo lets them under our wings.
To celebrate the economy and mounds of money we have, Alfredo invests in all current infrastructure and industrial projects to the max.
On November 24th 1928, the government of Communist Brazil finally falls, ushering in a new era of a Brazilian Republic.

But along with the Republic are several other provisions to be signed at a peace treaty by rebel leaders in Rio.
By December 2nd, the Dutch successfully hold off the Russians and French long enough for them to call a white peace.

If you're curious, by the signing of the peace treaty, Platense subsidies have paid exactly $204,563.79 to the Dutch and Belgian successful war efforts.
On December 4th, the rebel peace treaty is signed in Rio.

Notable provisions include recognizing Pernambuco as an independent nation, leaving the influence of France, and granting independence to the former nation of Rio Grande do Sul.

Like Pernambuco, the government of Rio Grande do Sul runs to Alfredo for support in case of possible Brazilian retaliation- after all there were still Fascist rebels in the country.

Alfredo begins working with the government to bring ties between our two nations closer.
